All partners involved in this ECCA project are members of the Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity (NPLD). The NPLD is a European network that works in the area of language policy. The focus of the NPLD is on the so-called ‘regional and minority languages’ such as Welsh in the United Kingdom, Frisian in the Netherlands, Friulian and Ladin in Italy, Basque and Catalan in Spain. The aim of the NPLD is to raise awareness in Europe about the importance of linguistic diversity. Over 40 governments, language organizations and universities are members of the NPLD where they exchange best practices with each other about language planning and contribute to lobby in the EU institutions. This ECCA project is initiated by 7 NPLD partners in 5 regions, gives substance to cooperate on project level across the borders. In 2023 the project involves 8 different language regions. The ECCA project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the NPLD and of the NPLD partners involved. This second edition of the ECCA project is also made possible thanks to the practical support of the Government of the Balearic Islands.
